Find the tweet behind a sale

X won't say which post sent a visitor, so let the link say it.

Clicks from X come through t.co, and from the iPhone app they frequently carry no referrer at all. The best any analytics tool can do is say x.com, never which post.

Tag each post

Give every post its own link, with its name in the campaign:

https://yourapp.com/?utm_campaign=pricing-thread&utm_source=x&utm_medium=social

DataPenny builds these for you under Setup → Campaign links. Name the post, copy the link, and it previews how the visit will be recorded.

If you only want the visit credited to X, not to one post, ?ref=x is enough.

Use it where the referrer is hidden

To any analytics tool, X’s iPhone app looks like Safari. Untagged, those clicks disappear into Direct. Tagged, they show up under the post.

Read the result

Open the Campaign tab on the dashboard. Each post shows its visitors and the revenue credited to it. On a sale, the Telegram alert names the campaign.

Keep the names short and lowercase. You’ll be reading them in a list.
