Seeing ChatGPT visits in your analytics

ChatGPT sends visitors with a referrer or a utm_source, except when it doesn't.

How it shows up

Links clicked in ChatGPT on the web usually arrive with a chatgpt.com referrer, and often with utm_source=chatgpt.com added to the URL. Older links may show chat.openai.com.

What gets lost

Clicks from some apps arrive with no referrer. Someone who reads an answer and then searches for your name arrives as Google. Neither can be traced back with certainty.

See it in DataPenny

Visits from chatgpt.com land in the AI Assistant channel with no setup. Filter by it to see visitors, pages, revenue and lifetime value for that channel alone.

Is it worth anything?

Traffic isn’t the question. Open the channel’s row and look at revenue and conversion next to your other sources. In path to purchase, compare who found the buyer with who got the credit.
