Set up Telegram

1. Message @BotFather, send /newbot, and copy the token.
2. Say anything to your bot, or add it to a group.
3. Under Setup → Alerts, paste the token and press Connect.

Up to five chats can listen in: you, a co-founder, a partner. A chat that fails doesn’t hold up the others.

What you get

Each switch is per site.

• Sales and refunds. Every message names the buyer, source, campaign and country, and how long they took to buy. A sale matched on timing alone is labelled estimated.
• Traffic spikes. DataPenny looks every 5 minutes. One source bringing 10 or more visitors in an hour, at 4 times its normal rate, sets off an alert, and so does the whole site at 20 visitors and 3 times normal. After alerting, a source stays quiet for 6 hours. A site needs two days of history before any of this starts, and each spike lands on your chart as a note.
• A daily digest, at an hour you pick in the site’s time zone: visitors and revenue against the day before, then conversion, top source and top page.

Imported sales never trigger an alert.
